Do I have to make claims?
To recover some of the original first cost of a product, making claims is a necessary aspect of ecommerce. If you have already built a returns allowance into your pricing, then making claims is optional as your allowance will cover the majority of the cost.
How long do I have to submit a claim?
As soon as you are made aware of a return you can claim for, you should submit the claim.
Overstock asks customers to hold onto UPS-damaged items for only 10 days after a return request is made. After that time, you may not be able to file a claim for these kinds of requests.
UPS has a time limit of 60 days to file a claim, and other carriers have time frames between 90-120 days for filing claims.
