Bear creates the best possible listings for your products — and the more data you provide, the better your products will perform. Since your online customers aren’t able to see your products in a showroom, providing great data helps them feel confident in their purchases.
This article will provide an overview of the different types of data we collect from you, and the ways to submit that data.
Product Data
Bear will provide you with a thorough, category-specific data sheet to fill out. If this is your first time listing online, you may need to collect some new data points about your products.
CommerceBear will provide you with a thorough data sheet to fill out, tailored to the category you’re publishing in.
The information we’ll request includes:
- Detailed material descriptions (e.g. frame, upholstery, wood species)
- Detailed dimensions (e.g. width, depth, height, seat height, drawer width, weight, weight capacity)
- Kit and component information
- Shipping dimensions and lead times
- Pricing (we will work with you to price for specific channels)
- Country of origin and construction methods
- Assembly & product care details
- Regulations and certifications (e.g. Prop 65)
- Titles, descriptions, and feature bullets, if you have them
If you are unable to provide any of the above data, or you’re unsure what the requirements are, reach out to our team and we will be happy to help you in any way we can.
Images
High quality photography and imagery are essential for successful product listings. The more visuals you can provide, the better.
Bear requires a minimum of 2 images per product, with a minimum longest side of 1000 pixels. The more images you have to showcase your product and its features, the better.
Ideally, your product photography should include:
- Silo or white background images from multiple angles
- Lifestyle images, showing the products in a room setting
- Detail images, of features or fabric swatches
Feel free to contact us with any questions about your imagery. If you don’t have dimension line images, CommerceBear will create them for you to help customers understand your product sizing.
📷 Check out our Image Standards slide deck for details and examples.
Image submission
Bear can accept images in .jpg, .png, or .tif format. You can submit your images by either of the following methods:
- Spreadsheet with public-facing links. On the Images tab of your product data form, simply add public-facing links on each row next to the matching SKUs.
- Required: These links should end with a filetype extension, like .jpg or .png, and should direct to a page where only the image appears. See an example here.
- File transfer service like Dropbox or WeTransfer. If you don’t have a way to create public-facing links, you can send the files in bulk.
- Required: The image filenames must contain the matching SKU or each product’s images must be inside a folder named to match the SKU exactly.
Summary
Great product data is the heart of building a successful ecommerce business. While channels may have different minimum data requirements, providing more data translates to better performance across the board.
